Ryan Laney is currently working as an effects animation lead on the upcoming film G-FORCE.
This year Laney completed development work on HANCOCK. This past summer, Laney finished work as an effects animation lead on SPIDER-MAN 3, where he was responsible for overseeing the team which created the “goo” effect which earned an ASIFA nomination for its work.
While at Imageworks, Laney has worked as an effects animation lead on projects such as THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE, BEWITCHED, ZATHURA, and THE AVIATOR.
While at Digital Domain, Laney worked on THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW. Prior to that, Laney worked at Industrial, Light and Magic on films such as HIDALGO, STAR WARS: ATTACK OF THE CLONES, MEN IN BLACK II, HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS, and JURASSIC PARK III. Prior to Industrial, Light and Magic, Laney worked on THE MATRIX RELOADED and THIRTEEN GHOSTS at Manex.
In 1992, when visual effects was still referred to as CGI and modeling; dynamics, animation, and rendering were all done in separate modules or packages. Laney started his own company in Houston called Laney Digital, where on a daily basis he worked on a variety of tasks, everything from writing plug-ins to supervising the production of the teams work.
